Report: White House Considering Citing The Killing Of Russian Fighters In Syria As Sign Of "Tough Stance" Toward Putin

Bloomberg: White House Considers Citing Russian Deaths in Syria as Sign of U.S. Resolve

* Trump’s spokeswoman makes oblique reference to Syria battle
* More than 200 mercenaries may have died in Feb. 7 fight

The Trump administration is considering citing the deaths of scores of Russian mercenaries in a Feb. 7 battle with U.S.-backed forces in Syria as evidence of the president’s tough stance toward the Kremlin, a person familiar with the matter said.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders made an oblique reference to “an incident” on Tuesday, as she argued that President Donald Trump has been tougher on Russia than his predecessor Barack Obama. She was alluding to the Syria battle -- an episode that threatens to deepen tensions with Moscow.

“He has done a number of things to put pressure on Russia and to be tough on Russia. Just last week, there was an incident that will be reported in the coming days, and another way that this president was tough on Russia,” Sanders said in a briefing for reporters.

Update: Risking Major Escalation, Trump Weighs Killing Of Russian Fighters In Syria As Sign Of "Tough Stance" Toward Putin (Zero Hedge).

WNU Editor: I doubt that the administration is considering to do this .... this is just speculation from Bloomberg. But in the event that Bloomberg is 0.0001% accurate .... and this is what the White House does .... it is a guarantee that in the weeks and months to come we will be hearing of an accidental Russian military strike on a U.S. base/ship/FOB/etc. that has resulting in the killing of a hundred or more U.S. troops .... and the Russians will be saying ooopppsss! .... it was a mistake.

If it's stupid and nonsensical, Trump will do it. He's a moron. He's got no idea about what goes on internationally, he has no interest in learning it, and he couldn't retain it if you did. He has one Soul solitary interest, himself. That is the definition of a narcissist.

Oh, so this anon has met Trump and knows him personally! So, what else has he told you?

Well, just one problem with the comments. The one incident with major loss of life was PROVOKED BY THE RUSSIANS attacking head on with US units.
I seriously doubt US units will ever attack Russian units without provocation. Should Russia decide to attack Americans who aren't threatening anyone that is causus belli. From Russia's point of view, not worth it. They're getting what they want without that kind of trouble.

Hans--
you don't have to meet someone in person to know what that person is like when you have his endless daily lies, his moronic self absorbed tweets, his changed postions weekly, his insults to those in the other party and those in his own party and his non stop insults to leaders of other nations.

Fazman--
I am not arguing for or against Trump and what he has done, but rather answering the anon comment that you need to know someone personally to comment on what he or she is like. Comments about this side or that side of a political issue not the point here. ps: yes, we have had worse: Andrew Johnson did more lasting damage to this nation than any president so far.

WNU,
I don't think Russia will do what you say and saying ooooppsss. It could be possible against American mercenaries, and there are enough, but not against official troops: that's an act of war.(ooooppsss or not). But the purpose of this "incident" was a test of American resolve from Russia (vs Obama) and a message of resolve from America (mainly Mattis). Both have understood each other (I hope) and that's it.

If russian mercenaries down a u.s jet with a Stella, or a smerch hit a fob, Putin denies liabilities just like Blackwater did whatever they felt like.
