Why Did The Hillary Clinton Campaign Use GPS Fusion With Putin-Linked Clients To Dig Up Dirt On Donald Trump?

Marc A. Thiessen, Washington Post: Clinton’s link to Putin is the underreported ‘dossier’ bombshell

The news that the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee paid for research used in the discredited Trump-Russia “dossier” is a bombshell. But even more shocking — and overlooked — is the revelation that the firm the Clinton campaign hired to compile that dossier, Fusion GPS, is the same firm that has been accused in recent congressional testimony of launching a smear campaign in Washington against Sergei Magnitsky, the Russian lawyer who was tortured and killed in a Russian prison in 2009 after uncovering a $230 million tax theft by 23 Kremlin-linked companies and individuals close to President Vladimir Putin.

Which raises the question no one seems to be asking: Why was Hillary Clinton using an opposition research company with Putin-linked clients to dig up dirt on Donald Trump?

The claimed link that was identified in congressional testimony has its roots in the Putin regime’s lobbying for the repeal of the 2012 Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act, which froze assets and banned visas for Russians involved in or benefiting from Magnitsky’s murder, as well as for others involved in torture, extrajudicial killings or abuses against those seeking to promote human rights or expose illegal activity by Russian officials. So far, some 35 Putin cronies have been sanctioned under the act, infuriating the Russian president.

WNU Editor: Some good points from Marc Thiessen at the Washington Post .... why did the Clinton campaign team decide to use and pay a firm with Kremlin ties to dig up dirt on Donald Trump? So far .... no one has given an answer.

Why did the RNC employ a Russian Spy to do "Oppo" Research on Hillary?

"As the general election was taking shape last summer, the Republican National Committee initiated a series of payments to a low-profile firm started by retired CIA officers that worked closely with an ex-Russian spy.

The payments attracted attention in political and intelligence circles, largely because the Virginia-based firm, Hamilton Trading Group, had particular expertise in Russia, which was emerging as a major campaign issue at the time."

As we know, Billionaire/Lobbiest Singer, through the Washington Free Beacon started the "Oppo" Research probably for the Rubio Campaign.

Once Trump was the nominee, the Steele Dossier was picked up by the DNC's Law Firm,

and after the DNC hack, the dossier also wound up with McCain, and the FBI.

The dossier was part of Putin's disinformation efforts to create a Trump Russia connection, kowing it would have a negative impact on Trump. Putin wanted HRC to win.

This was a good way to toss Putin a few million too.

Now Putin has bragging rights on Bill Clinton for the most money for least work.

The Steele dossier was not picked up by the DNC's law firm. The DNC law firm hired Mr. Steele after they picked up the dossier.

The dossier was produced as part of opposition research during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Opposition research against Donald Trump was initially funded during the Republican Party presidential primaries by The Washington Free Beacon, a conservative website funded by prominent Republican Paul Singer; the website hired the firm Fusion GPS to conduct the research in October 2015.[1] After Trump emerged as the probable Republican nominee, attorney Marc Elias of the Perkins Coie law firm took over the funding on behalf of the Democratic National Committee and Clinton presidential campaign. Fusion GPS then contracted Steele to compile the dossier.[6] Following Trump's election, Steele continued working on the report, with financing from Glenn R. Simpson of Fusion GPS,[7] and passed on the information to British and American intelligence services.

The precise may not be known at this point.

It was all part of a grand strategy to create a Russa Trump connection that did not exist.

Well Fred and Jay beat me to it, so I will just add:

Always amuses me that the right in particular always moans about a story that is "underreported" by the left wing media. I've seen this reported over and over again just today alone and even last night on *gasp* NPR. Brian Lamb always used to ask callers about how they heard about stories that "were not reported by the left wing controlled media". Many times there was no answer (draw your own conclusion) and sometimes it was on Fox or Rush.

And lets take a look at this through Russian eyes. Or really any intelligence operation looking to form foreign public opinion, including our own CIA. They don't care how or who they give information to, real or not, as long as it furthers their objectives. It's always easier to follow the path of least resistance and having the opposition tie itself in knots doing finger pointing is even better.
